REMOVING UNUSED DAM- JUNE 23

On the West side of the property an old dike, surrounded by trees had to be removed and leveled to the altitute of the rest of the land. The idea is to use this space for our future vineyards. We will not use a water storage space, as the water will be pumped out from the grond and be diverted directly to the wineplants.

JUN 06- START WITH WATER WELLING

July 10 , 170 meters deep-we are almost there. Today we will define the profile of the new well to decide from where we will finally get access to our ground water.

One of the most urgent issues was to get water from the ground. We had to film the obsolete and non functioning existing one and seal it (see pictures) in order to start with a new project.
A company was hired to start welling up to 210 meters to get to the third water level, where the purest and highest quality ground water is supposed to be found. The project is expected to be finalised mid july 2006.

JUN 06- CLEANING THE LAND

As autumn was coming to an end we decided to clean the entire property, destroying the small bushes, burning them to get a clear picture of the dimensions and soil quality. Only the 2 worker houses and some trees remained untouched and the birds, foxes and rabbits could not believe their eyes on what they saw.

FEB 2006-PURCHASE OF 35 HECTARES LAND

On february 24, 2006 we finally bought 35.856 hectares of uncultivated land 37 kms south from Mendoza city on Via Cobos in Ugarteche. My neighbours are well known wineries, such as Dona Paula (from Chile- Santa Rita), Montes, Trivento (all from Chile) and Chandon. After signing the contract we celebrated my 40 year birthday with my wife Ulla, parents, parents in law, Connie- sister in law and my friends who came to visit from Russia Anja & Arthur.

After walking on the land, we made a piquenique under the summer heat and toasting with local Sparkling Wine
