VISITORS FROM BUENOS AIRES

Alejandro, cousin of Ulla and some relatives & friends came for one day to visit the vineyard and participated on a small winetasting in the Winery. Our wines have now rested 2 months in the barrels and are starting to improve body and structure. Also the colour looks very promissing and the fruits are still powerful

HARSH WINTER

We have been experiencing one of the coldest winters in recent memory. While there was for the first time snow in Buenos Aires since 87 years, we had freezing temperatures at our vineyard with temperatures up to to - 12 C. Some few vines dried out and the tubes of the well were frozen and unable to be used for irrigation for several days.
The view of the Andes are spectacular, as we have now passed the first half of an unusal tough winter.

PRUNING our MALBEC VINEYARD

On a short visit to the finca I actively participated in cutting the dry leaves to the correct size. In the coming 2 months we need to do this with all our 100.000 plants.

PRUNING SEASON STARTS

As winter has come into full swing we have started to cut down the individual wine plants to allow a healthy growth once the fresh leaves start to come out in september. 5 workers have plenty of work to do for the coming two months

FIRST WINE TASTING

After our wines have been developing now for 4 weeks in smaller winetanks and French oak (Sylvain & HFF) we made our first winetasting with enologist and agronomist to get a feel for the upcoming wine.
We took 3 samples each of Cabernet and Malbec and these are our first impressions:

Malbec
Color- purple
Bouquet- cassis, red berry
Mouth- a little bid agressive, lots of fruits, plum, full bodied and pleasant ending

Cabernet
Colour-dark red
Bouquet- spices, pepper, red berry
Mouth- soft tanins, easy to drink, fruits, cinnemon, lacks a little bid of structure

On july 5th we will have an internal winetasting event at the Winery to check where our wine is standing compared to the other high quality wines made there.
